The students met with future employers
The 19th edition of the Engineering Job and Entrepreneurship Fair at the Silesian University of Technology is behind us. On Monday, October 20th, 2025, almost one hundred employers from all over Poland presented their career development offers for students in the Sports Centre Hall.
- For the nineteenth time we meet at the Engineering Jobs and Entrepreneurship Fair. First of all, you can see the offer of the university itself. Student Science Clubs are present here and our organizations. We also host entrepreneurs and institutions that employ our graduates, offer them internships and work placements - emphasized Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology.
– This is a great opportunity to get to know them, make first contacts. This is of a mutual benefit for both our students and employers.
Job fairs at the Silesian University of Technology take place twice a year. It is one of the most important recruitment events in the region, bringing together students, graduates, and business representatives.
- Every time we are visited by about 9 thousand young people who can find offers here for themselves, but also get an idea of what requirements future employers have, what competencies they pay attention to - said Barbara Odoszewska from the Student Career Office, which is the organizer of the event.

Among the institutions representing various industries - from industry and engineering, through IT and power industry, to the services and public administration sector, there were employers from both the region and from outside Silesia. At the employers’ stands, one could get acquainted with current job offers, internships and work placements, as well as take part in recruitment talks and consultations with professional advisors.
- We came mainly with an offer of student internships. We have signed an agreement with the Silesian University of Technology, so we are particularly interested in attracting young people from this university who want to prove themselves in Critical Applications - said Katarzyna Wojak, a recruiter of this company. Those interested in development in the area of analysis, programming, testing and people who would like to become project managers in the future could apply for internships.

Among the offers you could find well-paid proposals both for people who have gained their first practical training, as well as fresh graduates. There were proposals for programmers, IT specialists, and various engineering specialists, from logistics specialists to transport carriers.
- We are glad that this event takes place in Gliwice. We want young people to want to stay in the city so that they can see the prospects in it. In addition to the business offer, which will be announced today, we as a city will provide them with housing, cultural and recreational offer, so that they will choose Gliwice as their city in the future – said Jarosław Zięba, Vice President of the City of Gliwice.
In turn, the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Prof. Marek Gzik added that it is important to show career development opportunities during studies, especially as Silesia is the first place when it comes to industrial concentration.
Poland is still on a very fast path of development. Last year the growth was approximately 3.5% of GDP. Poland has become an important economy in the world. This is of course the reason to be proud, but these are also the challenges we face. Looking at how many outstanding graduates have been educated by the Silesian University of Technology, I am confident that fresh graduates will also manage on such a dynamically developing market – said Prof. Gzik.

The participants agreed that the fair was an excellent opportunity to directly contact representatives of companies and to get to know the real expectations of the labour market.
- I'm here just a moment, and I've already found some interesting offers for myself - said Wojtek, a student of the last year of computer science at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics. Eng. Błażej Brudny – Chairman of the Student Self- Government of the Silesian University of Technology, has no doubt that the Fair helps students see how many opportunities open up for them.
– Of course, there are offers of internships, work placements, and work, but the presence of student Science Clubs at this event is also important. This, in turn, shows the possibility of scientific development already during the course of studies – he emphasized.

The event was organized by the Silesian University of Technology Student Career Office, which for years has been supporting students in career planning and developing professional competences. It is worth noting that the event was organized on the basis of full accessibility and was adapted to the needs of people with disfunctions and disabilities.
