Science comes from good sources! The 20th Researchers' Night of the Silesian University of Technology

Science comes from good sources and has its beginning at the Silesian University of Technology. Already on the 11th of October in Gliwice, Zabrze, Katowice, and Rybnik we will celebrate the Researcher’s Night, which for 20 years has been uniting people looking for scientific inspirations and reliable knowledge.

For 20 years, the Silesian University of Technology has been popularizing and promoting science in the form of an open event, which every year attracts lovers of knowledge and experiments. Researchers' Night of the Silesian University of Technology has been inscribed in the consciousness of the inhabitants of the region as a collection of inspiring lectures, exciting presentations and workshops, and laboratories available to all.

It will be no different during the jubilee, 20th edition of the Researchers’ Night, which this year is held under the slogan “Science comes from good sources” and focuses on searching for reliable sources, reaching out to proven information and scientifically proven data. The event will take place on October 11th  from 17:00 to 23:00 at the 4 campuses of the University: in Gliwice, Katowice, Zabrze, and Rybnik.

In the program, participants will find over 200 popular science activities from various fields, and participants will:

  • build their own rocket and find out where the satellites get their electricity in space.
  • isolate DNA from fruit and conduct experiments in one of the laboratories,
  • learn how engineers create instruments and what they can play on them,
  • perform surgery and learn how engineering connects with medicine.
  • find out if it is difficult to drive a train or steer a plane.

The activities of Researchers’ Night are aimed at different age groups. For the youngest participants of the Researchers’ Night a special “Bajtel Zone” has been prepared. Late in the evening there will be lectures addressed only to adults (e.g. “What do animals take to be intoxicated?”) and discussion panels (e.g. “Let’s talk about artificial intelligence”). In addition, visitors to the University campuses will be able to take part in a fire show, performances, and concerts.
