Professor Marek Salamak and Marcin Jasiński, PhD, Eng., from the Faculty of Civil Engineering together with Waldemar Mucha, PhD, Eng., and professor Andrzej Katunin from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering represented Silesian University of Technology as lecturers at Summer School in Riga.
Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) brought together students, researchers, and experts from across Europe to jointly explore modern approaches to monitoring the safety and performance of engineering structures. The summer school was organised by Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte (Riga Technical University) in cooperation with the partners from The Silesian University of Technology, Università Politecnica delle Marche, and Università degli Studi di Bergamo. The participants also included two students and a PhD student from our University.
The participants had the opportunity to take part in:
- Introductory lectures on SHM fundamentals
- Hands-on laboratory session on monitoring a bridge
- Field demonstrations of structural health monitoring of Dzintari tower in Jurmala
- Visiting contruction site of Latvian part of Rail Baltica project
- Group project work fostering international collaboration
- Student presentations and discussions
- Networking opportunities with peers and academics from partner institutions
