On July 7th, the final of the 19th edition of the nationwide competition organized by the team of employees of the Department of Thermal Technology of the Silesian University of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Ryszard Białecki, for the best master’s thesis on the application of computational methods to simulate heat-flow processes. The award went to the student of Silesian University of Technology.
During the final, participants selected in the first stage of the competition presented their diploma theses. The jury assessed the quality of the presentation and the content of the finalists’ diploma theses. The topics of the presented works included simulations of the influence of humid air on the destruction of halite crystals in the Wieliczka salt mine, heat exchangers, condensation modelling and water wave scattering issues. Particularly valuable were the works containing also an experimental component used to validate the developed simulation models.
The jury decided to award the following places:
- Place: Dominik Buksa (AGH)
- Place: Adrian Koźluk (Warsaw University of Technology)
- Place: Mateusz Szydłowski (Lodz University of Technology)
Distinction: Kamil Smolaga (Silesian University of Technology) and Jakub Bobrowski (Lodz University of Technology).
