The visit of Prof. Rafat Siddique at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology
At the end of June, the Faculty of Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology had a great pleasure to host Prof. Rafat Siddique from the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in India.
Prof. Rafat Siddique is the Dean for Sustainable Development at the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in India and is one of the Top 2% of scientists worldwide in the Stanford University 2024 ranking (according to Scopus database: 19 786 citations, H-index = 80). He also serves as editor in prestigious journals: Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier, TOP5), Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering (ASCE), European Journal of Environmental and Civil Engineering (Taylor & Francis).
During his visit, Prof. Rafat Siddique gave 2 lectures:
- Strategies to Publish Manuscripts in Q1 Journals,
- Utilisation of Industrial By-Products in the Development of Sustainable Concrete.
Prof. Rafat Siddique not only shared his impressive research experience in sustainable concrete, but, as editor of renowned scientific journals, he also provided practical guidance on publishing and building international scientific influence.
During the visit, the employees of the Faculty of Civil Engineering had the opportunity to present research works and familiarize the visitor with the infrastructure of the Civil Engineering Laboratory and specialized research stations. The meetings allowed to discover many common research areas and resulted in plans for future cooperation.
The visit was also an opportunity to present to Prof. R. Siddique the heritage and industrial history of our region.
