During the stay of Dr. Eng. Krzysztof Tomiczek in Malaysia, a series of new lectures devoted to the topic of “Disaster Risk Reduction” (DRR) took place, which summarize the most important issues of DRR:
- Geotechnical and Geomechanical Factors affecting the Intensity of Selected Natural Disasters Landslides, Mudslides, and Earthquakes in Asia.
- The Impact of Natural Disasters on the Environment and Natural Resource Management in Southeast Asia.
- Economic Aspects of the Impact of Natural Disasters on the Economies of Southeast Asian Countries and Safety Strategies in Reducing Post-Disaster Losses.
The lectures were mainly attended by lecturers and students associated with the newly launched USM specialty “Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction.”
In addition to the lectures, there were working talks and meetings with HE Prof. Narimah Samat (USM Vice - Chancellor), representatives of faculties of: Remote Teaching and Natural Resources Engineering, and Malaysian students, participants in PBL projects.
During a visit to Universiti Sains Malaysia, Dr Eng. Krzysztof Tomiczek received the occasional medal of the USM International Cooperation Department in recognition of his positive contribution to building mutual relations.
