Great interest in the project: “Girls, it’s time for tech!”
The Centre for Modern Education of the Silesian University of Technology, the Perspektywy Education Foundation and Stellantis have joined forces this academic year to open the door to the world of technology to young women from Upper Silesia. The new program was designed to inspire secondary school pupils to explore science, technology, and engineering (STEM), develop their technical competencies, and build confidence in making future educational and professional decisions.
On March 25th , together with the Perspektywy Educational Foundation and Stellantis we inaugurated a series of trainings for secondary school pupils as part of the project “Girls, it’s time for tech!”.
The Silesian University of Technology participating in the “Girls, it’s time for tech! “Program has been offering the pupils technical workshops, meetings with experts, career counselling and educational visits since March. The program is being implemented until the end of June 2025, and the target group consists of 200 pupils from secondary schools in Upper Silesia.
As part of the program, 62 workshops were carried out at the following Faculties of Silesian University of Technology:
- Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,
- Faculty of Electrical Engineering
- Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering, and Industrial Automation,
- Faculty of Chemistry
- Faculty of Applied Mathematics,
- Faculty, Civil Engineering
- Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science,
- Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering,
- Faculty of Materials Engineering,
- Institute of Physics.
The workshops included:
- Additive technologies – waste-free generation in a circular economy – how to do it?
- Discover the female passion for technology – experience large and small numbers in engineering: see and experience the operation of high voltages of 200 000 V,
- The Power of Technology: From ideas to innovation,
- Fragrance technology – from laboratory to perfumery,
- From lemon to bottle,
- Electrochemical workshops in surface engineering,
- Computer science: Travel in virtual reality,
- Civil Engineering in 3D or see what you can’t see!
- To see the electric current,
- Renewable energy sources: Discover how a solar collector and a heat pump deliver heat to your home.
- A detective on the trail of climate change and environment,
- Discover the beauty and nature of the laws of nature - experiment with us,
- "Production engineering in the world of materials: Magic and Technology.”

Organize a team and lead Sprint – enter the world of IT as a leader.
The workshops were attended by 183 girls from the following schools:
- Technical and Information Technology School Complex in Gliwice
- Academic Secondary Comprehensive School of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.
- The 2nd Secondary Comprehensive School named after M. Kopernik in Cieszyn
- The 3rd Secondary Comprehensive School in ZABRZE.
- The 1st Secondary Comprehensive School named after E. Dembowski
in Gliwice. - The 5th Secondary Comprehensive School named after A. Strug in Gliwice
- The Inland Navigation School Complex named after “Cichociemni” in Gliwice
- Secondary Comprehensive School in Tychy
