A day with nuclear energy at the Silesian University of Technology

On Friday, June 6th, the Silesian University of Technology will host a meeting with representatives of companies and institutions involved in the development of the nuclear sector. During the event, a panel discussion will be organized with the participation of national experts, mainly devoted to discussing the role of nuclear energy in the future energy mix and the needs in terms of building human resources and competences.

We invite you to the Nuclear Energy Open Day at the Silesian University of Technology, which will be held on June 6th, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Hall A of the Education and Congress Centre in Gliwice at 18B, Konarskiego Street

The planned development of the nuclear sector in Poland and the announced construction of nuclear power plants encourage universities to take intensive actions to prepare specialists for work in this new and dynamically developing area of energy. In order to encourage secondary school pupils and current students to pursue studies in nuclear power, it is necessary to build awareness of the urgent need to educate a significant number of highly qualified experts and workers who will ensure the professional operation of future nuclear power plants now.

The future workforce of the nuclear energy sector includes not only nuclear power engineers, but also specialists such as thermal power engineers, mechanics, welders, electricians, assemblers and materials experts. The process of designing or building a nuclear power plant is also a chance for employment for our graduates.

We will tell you all about this on June 6 at the Silesian University of Technology!

The Nuclear Energy Open Day will provide a unique opportunity for direct contact with experts and practitioners working in the field of nuclear energy. During the session, all those interested in cooperating with companies whose representatives will be present at the event in large numbers will have the opportunity to learn what everyday work looks like in various professions related to the nuclear sector. This part of the event aims to inspire and dispel doubts about the importance of nuclear energy for the transformation processes of the national economy, as well as global economies. For representatives of universities and secondary schools, it is also an opportunity to build bridges between education and industry.

The event program also includes a panel discussion devoted to the challenges and development prospects of nuclear energy with the participation of representatives of companies from the broadly understood sector, including representatives of technology developers, suppliers of machinery and equipment, as well as representatives of nuclear supervision. The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Marek Gzik and Director of the Department of Nuclear Energy at the Ministry of Industry, Dr Paweł Gajda also confirmed their attendance at the event.

It is worth noting that during the event there will be an opportunity to take a virtual walk through the interior of a nuclear reactor.
