Landmark step in the development of EURECA-PRO
The signing of letter of intent by the rectors of nine partner universities on the establishment of legal personality for the EURECA-PRO consortium was one of the most important events of the Review Week 2025, the EUECA-PRO summary week, which took place in Nancy, France. It was attended by a delegation of the Silesian University of Technology headed by the Rector Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk.
The event, hosted by the University of Lorraine, was aimed at integrating and strengthening cooperation between partner universities, discussing the achievements so far and setting the strategic direction of the Alliance’s development for the next year. It was the largest meeting of the university authorities of the consortium, administration, students, and scientists so far - it was attended by over 200 people.
– “The most important event of the week was the signing of a letter of intent, declaring full consent to the establishment of the legal personality of our consortium. We have worked on this for almost 3 years and we hope to finalize this decision in the autumn, then EURECA-PRO will have its legal representation based in Hasselt, Belgium, which will make it part of a small group of universities with legal solutions that are considered by the European Commission to be adequate, guaranteeing long-term cooperation and development of the European University” - emphasises Marcin Górski, Prof. SUT, coordinator of EURECA-PRO at the Silesian University of Technology.

This is a landmark step which is the foundation for the further development of EURECA-PRO toward a truly integrated and future-oriented European University. Eureka-PRO will become an international non-profit association based on Belgian law concerning international activities, and its statute which has already been developed, will soon be subject to approval by the senates and councils of partner universities. The institutional structure of the association was also designed. During the meeting, the Education Council was established, and it was decided to establish the Research and the Third Mission & Communication Council. Prof. Anna Chrobok, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education was unanimously elected the President of the Education Council.
– “It is a great success of our University, partners appreciated our experience and long-term substantive contribution to the construction of the innovative educational offer of the Consortium; an offer based on problem and project teaching as well as competency training conducted in our university for teaching staff and doctoral students” – emphasizes Dr Eng. Marcin Górski, Prof. SUT, coordinator of EURECA-PRO at the Silesian University of Technology. – “The Education Council develops an educational offer both within the consortium, creating further courses for students, but also creates an external training offer”.
The rich educational and internship offer of EURECA-PRO can be used by students and doctoral students. The consortium has strongly strengthened pro-quality, networking, and brokerage activities to facilitate contact between researchers with similar interests, in order to carry out joint research and prepare applications for international projects.
