Silesian University of Technology begins cooperation with DB Cargo Polska S.A.
On May 21st, the Silesian University of Technology began a new stage of cooperation with DB Cargo Polska S.A.
On behalf of the University, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk signed a framework agreement on cooperation with DB Cargo Polska S.A. Representatives of DB Cargo also took part in the ceremonial signing of the agreement: Anna Sojka – Member of the Management Board for HR, Michał Batko – Member of the Management Board for Production, Wojciech Chytroszek – Project Manager and Klaudia Murańska – Communication Specialist. The Silesian University of Technology was represented by Dr Hab. Eng. Marcin Staniek, Prof. SUT- Vice Rector for Collaboration with Civic and Economic Environment of the Silesian University of Technology, Dr Hab Aleksandra Kuzior, Prof. SUT - Dean of the Faculty of Organization and Management and Dr Eng. Adam Mańka - Vice-Dean for Infrastructure and Organization of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering.
The signed agreement is aimed at strengthening the existing cooperation between the Silesian University of Technology and DB Cargo Polska S.A. in areas related to education, including paid student internships, engineering and master projects, professional internships and job offers for our students and graduates.
The Framework Cooperation Agreement also results from a significant intensification of joint research, scientific and implementation activities, with particular emphasis on joint R&D projects.
- “So far, cooperation with the company has mostly concerned the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, the Faculty of Organization and Management and the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering, but the obtained information about the company's development plans shows that this cooperation will also extend to other units of our university” - noted Dr Eng. Adam Mańka, Vice-Dean for Infrastructure and Organization of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering, who will be responsible for coordinating cooperation with DB Cargo.
DB Cargo Polska S.A. is a leader in providing comprehensive railway logistics solutions and in the implementation of maintenance and repair processes of railway vehicles - locomotives and freight wagons. The dynamic development of the company is also focused on the production of an innovative railway wagon "m2", which is characterized by a modular frame design and interchangeable boxes. It is the most modern construction of this type in Europe and responds to the current demand of the transport market. In particular, it allows for a simple and economical way to adapt the rolling stock to different types of loads and thus to individual customer needs.
