How to provide first aid, how to react in a situation of danger, when and what services to call for help – these and other questions were answered during the Security Day organized at the Silesian University of Technology. Participants could test their skills in practice. This initiative is part of the Security Week, which is the University’s response to the recent tragic events at the University of Warsaw.
Visitors could visit the stands of AGAT Military Unit – Gliwice, the OSH Inspectorate of the Silesian University of Technology, the Department of Safety Engineering, the Student Science Club “Office of the Uninhibited Need to Inform About Safety”, the Academic Guard, the District Labour Inspectorate, the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, the District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Gliwice and the Municipal Guard in Gliwice.
“- Our University ensures the safety of employees, PhD students and students, but we wanted to remind participants how we do it. We have academic guards, there are 23 defibrillators at the University, but you need to know where they are and how to use them. Awareness of certain behaviours is also important, which is why today we invited many partners, many services that show how to react in critical situations” - says the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk. “- Psychological support for people who have certain problems in life is also an important aspect, early reaction can protect these people and all of us from misfortune.”
