Grzegorz Wójcik and Michał Kobielski, graduates of the Silesian University of Technology, won distinctions in the 17th National Competition “Young and Innovative”, organized by the Research Network Lukasiewicz – Industrial Institute of Automation and Measurements PIAP.
Grzegorz Wójcik received a distinction for his doctoral thesis “Leak detection system of batteries used in electric cars.” The paper notes that “the diagnostic system uses an innovative fibre optic sensor and deep neural networks to detect cooling oil leaks in electric batteries.” The work was carried out as part of an implementation PhD in cooperation with DRÄXLMAIER, a company specializing in solutions for the automotive industry.
Michał Kobielski received a distinction for his master’s thesis “Diagnostic system of a selected industrial process using the Nazca 4.0 platform.” “The system enables early detection of anomalies in industrial processes, achieving detection efficiency of 95%,” the comment reads. The work was carried out in cooperation with APA sp. z o.o, the creator of the innovative Nazca 4.0 platform, dedicated to solutions in the field of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
Both works were created under the supervision of Dr Hab. Eng. Piotr Przystałka, Prof. SUT, from the Department of Fundamentals of Machinery Design at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology.
Jury of the competition, chaired by Prof. Janusz Kacprzyk from the Institute of System Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences appreciated the innovativeness and practical character of both works, considering them as an important contribution to the development of modern diagnostic technologies.
We are proud of our graduates and wish them further scientific and professional success!
