ALO Student winner of OOWEE

Tomasz Kawalec, a pupil of the IIIB class at the Academic Secondary Comprehensive School of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, was awarded at the National Olympiad of Electrical and Electronic Knowledge (OOWEE) in the field of computer science.

OOWEE is a prestigious event organized by the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, in which the best pupils from all over Poland compete. The beginnings of this competition date back to 1973. The Olympics consists of several stages, covering both the theoretical part and practical tasks requiring advanced computer knowledge.

This year’s edition consisted of three stages. The first one was held in schools and was a practical Olympics, in the second stage the participants had to do a test, and also to perform tasks, among others in configuring the server. Only twelve people from all over Poland were promoted to the third, final stage. It consisted in discussion with the jurors. Tomasz had been well prepared, and thanks to this he presented himself very well and became a laureate - explains Dr Małgorzata Szymaszek, a teacher at ALO in Gliwice.

Congratulations!
