Green Science Zone
The Green Science Zone (ZSN) is an innovative project that aims to transform the urban space of Katowice by integrating science with the everyday life of its inhabitants. This unique undertaking fits into the broad context of sustainable development, promoting ecology, science, and innovation as the foundation of a modern city. In the planned Green Science Zone, innovation and science meet with public space, creating a place open to all. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the material related to the previous work on the ZSN.

50 outstanding achievements of Silesian Science
The European City of Science was an excellent opportunity to present the achievements of Silesian scientists who had the opportunity to share their knowledge and introduce various fields of science.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with selected 50 outstanding achievements of Silesian science. The publication presents profiles of 50 researchers from the EMNK (European City of Science Katowice) Consortium. The scientific issues they deal with are explained in a concise and accessible form.

Scientific Program for Silesia
One of the objectives of EMNK (European City of Science Katowice) 2024 was to create opportunities for scientists to further develop research projects, hence the idea of the Scientific Program for Silesia.
Work on launching research funding under the program is ongoing.

Citizen Science
Citizen Science is one of the activities that enables non-scientific professionals to participate in the process of research. In the European City of Science, anyone who wanted to devote their time could establish cooperation with researchers from the University of Silesia in Katowice and the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. Participants in four research projects were tasked with providing and analysing data. The main topics of the activities were water and bird observation. In the prepared brochure, we present the most important results of Citizen Science research in the European City of Science.

Science inspires
Science inspires! We had the opportunity to see this during numerous events and initiatives that make up the celebrations of the European City of Science Katowice 2024. On the basis of the topics covered during the 50 thematic weeks of EMNK, a publication containing materials and lesson scenarios proposals for teachers and students of different levels of education has been prepared. The presented issues are part of the core curriculum for primary and secondary schools. The most important objective of the publication is to support teachers in engaging education of students and developing key competences in them, such as critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, teamwork, or emotional intelligence.

EMNK Podcasts
As part of the EMNK (European City of Science Katowice) 2024 celebrations, we also carried out a series of podcasts presenting the subjects of all 50 thematic weeks. Scientists participating in the events, as well as curators and producers of the weeks talked about exceptional meetings, charismatic guests, and unforgettable situations, which we will remember as one of the unique effects of the European City of Science.
