Silesian Innovator 2024 – 3 awards for the Silesian University of Technology

Silesian Innovator 2024 is a competition that every year attracts the brightest minds and the most innovative ideas from the region. On Friday, November 22nd , during a gala ceremony at the Municipal Theatre in Gliwice, the winners of the 16th edition of the competition were announced. They surprised the jury with their creativity, technological vision, and courage in the implementation of bold projects. Out of eight competition categories, three prizes were awarded to scientists from the Silesian University of Technology.

The competition, which within the Enterprise Europe Network project is organized by the Upper Silesian Accelerator of Market Entrepreneurship sp. Z o.o., aims to distinguish companies and research and development institutions, which through innovative solutions and advanced technologies shape the future not only of the Silesian Voivodeship, but also of the entire economy. It is a platform
for the promotion of those who can translate their ideas into real scientific and business successes.
Among the submitted projects, twenty of the most groundbreaking innovations which reached the finals were selected. The final decision was taken by the Competition Board, composed of experts from various fields: from local government officials, through representatives of the world of science, to business practitioners. The selection of the winners was preceded by detailed technological audits, which allowed to assess the potential and importance of each solution.
Silesian University of Technology received three awards: The Award of the President of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis, President of the Management Board of the Upper Silesian Accelerator of Market Entrepreneurship sp. Z o.o. and in the category of Research and Development Institution.

Micro-enterprise category:

Winner: Panamint Sp. z o.o. (Pixie Smart Label Calibrated with Panamint experience® software)
Distinction: Scomi-tech Mirosław Skorek (Environmental monitoring system)

Small and medium enterprise category:

Winner: EGZOTech Sp. z o.o. (Sidra LEG Ultra)
Distinction: Relax - Med Sp. z o.o. (Automatic Patient Calculator for calculating National Health Fund refunds for cyclic devices).

Research and Development Institution category:

Winner: Silesian University of Technology - Biotechnology Centre (microfluidic device for testing drugs on human cells in conditions reflecting the environment in vivo)
Distinction: Lukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals (Powders from high-melting metals as a raw material for the production of elements used in the space, aviation
and energy industries)
