Dr Hab. Eng. Mirosław Bonek honoured with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa
Dr Hab. Eng. Mirosław Bonek Prof. SUT, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Education of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was honoured with the title and dignity of Doctor Honoris Causa of Khmelnytsky National University. The honourable title was awarded on September 26, 2024 in accordance with the resolution of the High Senate of Khmelnytsky National University in Ukraine for his contribution to the development of education and science and for many years of cooperation, promoting friendly relations between Khmelnytsky National University and the Silesian University of Technology, as well as between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland.
The ceremony of handing over the diploma of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Rector of Khmelnytsky National University Professor Serhii Matiukh and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Transport and Architecture Professor Oleh Polishchuk together with the delegation took place during the solemn meeting of the Dean’s Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology on 30.10.2024. After the ceremony, the delegation of Khmelnytsky National University met with His Magnificence Rector Marek Pawełczyk. The meeting was attended by: Prof. Serhii Matiukh, Rector of the Khmelnytskyi National University, prof Oleh Polishchuk, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Transport and Architecture of Khmelnytsky National University, Lyudmyla Matiukh and Andrii Polishchuk from Khmelnytsky National University, Dr Hab.Eng Marcin Adamiak, Prof. SUT, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Dr H.C. Dr Hab.Eng. Mirosław Bonek Prof. SUT, Vice-Dean for Student and Education.
During the meeting, the Rectors exchanged information on the profile of didactic and scientific activities and on possible areas of further cooperation extended to the involvement of other faculties of both universities. The Rectors also expressed their hope for a swift end to the war and the liberation of the occupied territories of Ukraine.
In addition, the delegation of Khmelnytsky National University during the visit to the Silesian University of Technology on 28.10.2024-01.11.2024, held a number of meetings with employees of the Departments and Laboratories of the Faculty of Mechanical Technology, and participated in scientific seminars during which the results of scientific research were presented and the directions of their further development were determined. Our guests also visited the Old Town of Gliwice, the radio station, the historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry and the Sedlaczek museum and winery. The co-organizer of the visit of the delegation from Ukraine was the Association of students of the Silesian University of Technology – Materials Engineering Student Research Club.
