"Belt and Road"
The Sino-Polish University Consortium (SPUC) is the first Polish-Chinese academic consortium, established on 21 March 2017 at the Beijing University of Technology as part of the “One Belt One Road” initiative. The initiators who established the consortium were three universities: the Beijing University of Technology, the Chongqing Jiaotong University and the Opole University of Technology. The main objective of the Sino-Polish University Consortium is to strengthen the international cooperation and academic exchange between Polish and Chinese universities.
The consortium is primarily intended to contribute to the reinforcement of academic cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries within the New Silk Road initiative (Belt and Road Initiative). The strategic project, “One Belt One Road” designated by the Chinese government in 2013 intends to establish a transcontinental rail link between China and Western Europe. This connection is to guarantee a very fast transfer of Asian products and vice versa – an influx of goods located in the European economic space. The project is intended to help the development of the countries along the road and, in the future, to be a tool for building peaceful relations between the countries along this road.
