Methodology of measuring the distance between PuT stops for the area where the organizer is Metropolitan Transport Authority ZTM with office in Katowice
The subject of scientific and research work was to develop a method of determining the distance between stops and the length of communication lines, which is to support the settlement of operational work adopted by the ZTM with the communes of the Metropolis GZM.
As part of the implementation of the subject of the order, a measurement methodology was developed that allows for their physical implementation by ZTM employees, using commonly used solutions in Geographical Information Systems, Global Navigation Satellite System, also with the support of databases, spreadsheets on currently used computer systems. The implementation of physical distance measurements does not require additional authorizations specified by law in the territory of Republic of Poland.
This study, carried out as part of the subject of the order, covers the following variants of the method of measuring the distance between stops and the length of communication lines:
- variant I with the use of Geographical Information Systems solutions,
- variant II with the use of Global Navigation Satellite System solutions.
In addition, as part of the study, recommendations were formulated regarding the determination of measurement points between which to measure distances divided inter-stops without a bus bay, with a bus bay and stations, and recommendations for the adoption by the ZTM of a specific variant of the method of measuring inter-stop distances and the length of communication lines, taking into account accuracy and error. tolerance of the distance of the measurements carried out, while assuming that the distances between stops are a key component in the model of settlements for operational work between ZTM and GZM communes. The procedure for identifying the boundaries of the member communes of the Metropolis GZM in the process of determining the distance between stops in accordance with the operational work settlement methodology adopted by the ZTM and GZM communes was also presented. For the developed variants of the methodology, the estimated time and effort involved in the implementation of measurements between stops and the length of communication lines in the area where the ZTM is the organizer of public transport.
