About Department

Our research unit was founded by prof. dr hab. Janusz Woch in 1991, first as the Traffic Engineering Unit, and then the Department of Traffic Engineering.

In 2013, the Department of Transportation Systems and Traffic Engineering was created. In 2021, the Department became the Department of Transport Systems, Traffic Engineering and Logistics.

The research unit was headed by:

1991-2009 prof. dr hab. Janusz Woch

2009-2019 dr hab. Inż. Stanisław Krawiec, prof. PŚ

Since 2019, the head of the department is dr hab. Inż. Grzegorz Sierpiński, prof. PŚ.

The Department of Transport Systems, Traffic Engineering, and Logistics is part of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology.

For the students of the Faculty, the Department runs the following scientific circles: SKN Signalis, SKN Traffic Modeling, LogistiCAD.

The Department conducts a cyclic conference "Transport Systems Theory and Practice".
