Awards of the Minister of Education and Science for outstanding scientists of the Silesian University of Technology
Four scientists of the Silesian University of Technology received the award of the Minister of Education and Science on the occasion of the Polish Science Day. The distinction is awarded for achievements in the field of scientific, didactic, implementation, and organizational activities, and for overall achievements.
The Polish Science Day, which is celebrated on the birthday of Nicolaus Copernicus, has become a unique opportunity to reward the achievements of Polish academic teachers and scientists. The awards of the Minister of Education and Science are awarded in 5 categories: for significant achievements in the field of scientific, didactic, implementation, organizational activities and overall achievements.
1st degree individual award for significant achievements in the field of organizational activity was awarded to dr hab. Aleksandra Kuzior, prof. PŚ, Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development of the Organization and Management Department. In this category, the awards were granted for expanding international cooperation, developing cooperation with the socio-economic environment and effective management of the entity that creates the system of higher education and science.
The Minister of Education and Science also awarded distinctions for lifetime scientific achievements. An individual award was received by prof. dr hab. Eng. Andrzej Świerniak. The winners of this distinction are outstanding personalities of Polish science and higher education, who conduct many years of research, teaching and organizational activity. They are also people who perform many important functions related to scientific activity.
The award was given to dr hab. Eng. Marcin Woźniak, prof. PŚ. Winners in this category receive awards for, among others, conducting scientific research, as a result of which new knowledge has been acquired focused on direct commercial application, conducting development works, managing research teams.
People awarded in the field of implementation activities practically used the results of scientific research or development work in industrial, scientific or commercial activities, commercialized the results of scientific activities and know-how, implemented original design or technological achievements. The laureate in this area was prof. dr hab. Eng. Łukasz Drobiec.
The achievements of scientists from the Silesian University of Technology, as well as conducting innovative works responding to the contemporary needs of the economy and business, contribute to strengthening the University's potential, as well as its position among scientific institutions in the country and abroad. The Silesian University of Technology also draws inspiration from the scientific tradition, for over 75 years undertaking research challenges and focusing on high quality education.
