“FakeBusters” – congratulations to student Julia Wróbel
Julia Wróbel, a second-cycle (Master’s) student of Cognitive Technologies at our Faculty, has reached the final of the first edition of the nationwide information verification competition “FakeBusters.” She thus joined a group of nearly 90 finalists from 18 cities, representing 34 higher education institutions. More than 1,000 participants took part in the competition, organized by the Centre for Cooperation and Dialogue at the University of Warsaw as part of the “Science Checks” project.
The final stage took the form of a 24-hour hackathon, during which reflexes, analytical thinking, the ability to verify sources, and effective countering of disinformation were crucial.
Julia’s achievement demonstrates the growing importance of independently assessing the credibility of information, navigating the information space consciously, and effectively identifying and limiting disinformation.
