Green and Digital Workshops with Certificates
Since November, the Faculty of Organization and Management has resumed the “Action: Transformation” initiative – a project that includes workshops for school youth focused on sustainable development, circular economy, and environmental protection. In the previous academic year, over 300 students participated in group workshops led by the faculty’s lecturers and experts from various companies and institutions. This year, the number of participants is expected to double.
– The project is aimed at fostering so-called green attitudes among young people and helping them acquire green and digital competences. It also shows how to create business models that use resources rationally while remaining efficient through the use of innovative technologies. I am also pleased that students from the final years of high school have the opportunity to get to know our academic staff and teaching facilities – said Professor Aleksandra Kuzior, Dean of the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology, initiator and coordinator of the project.
On Friday, November 7, students from Technical Secondary School No. 12 at the Jan Paweł II School Complex for Technical and Service Education received certificates confirming their free-market qualifications gained during the “Customer Relationship Management with CRM Systems” training. The certificates were presented by the school’s director, Grażyna Kowalska, and Professor Aleksandra Kuzior.
During the study workshops, Dominika Bremer, co-owner of the “Natezja” group specializing in municipal and industrial waste collection in the Silesian and Opole voivodeships, introduced the participants to the principles of waste sorting and recycling. Sławomir Wdowiak from the Zabrze City Guard outlined the role of his unit in environmental protection, particularly in preventing illegal dumping. A drone adapted to analyze the chemical composition of household chimney emissions drew considerable interest. Grzegorz Warzecha, Director at ZBM TBS in Zabrze, presented sustainable development principles in spatial economy, especially in residential construction. Aleksander Turek and Małgorzata Beciri from the Zabrze Water and Sewage Company discussed the ecological aspects of water and sewage management.
The project is co-financed by the European Union under the “European Funds for Silesia 2021–2027” program and aims to equip participating youth with valuable labour market competences: “key”, “green”, and “future”. “Action: Transformation” is implemented by the Tarnowskie Góry County and Syntea S.A., in cooperation with the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology.
