Global Contexts of Respect for Human Rights and Freedoms
During the ceremonial opening of the annual conference organized by the Department of Applied Social Sciences at the Faculty of Organization and Management of the Silesian University of Technology, Professor Aleksandra Kuzior, Dean of the Faculty, discussed various forms, shades, and manifestations of human rights and freedoms, along with the associated responsibilities. On December 10, 2024, a large audience of guests and students attended the deliberations of the 17th International Scientific Conference titled "Global Contexts of Respect for Human Rights and Freedoms."
Dr. Dariusz Krawczyk from the Department of Applied Social Sciences presented the consequences of introducing Regulation (EU) 2024/1083 of the European Parliament and Council, adopted on April 11, 2024. The regulation establishes a common framework for media services within the internal market and amends Directive 2010/13/EU, necessitating the adoption of a new media law in Poland.
A highlight of the conference was the highly engaging "Virtual Reality Lab" workshop on virtual reality and cognitive technologies.
During the poster session, participants explored topics such as the right to knowledge as a human right, the right to shape nature and technology, and the impact of artificial intelligence on human rights in the context of opportunities and risks.
