The Faculty of Organization and Management and the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering officially inaugurated the 2024/2025 academic year. The formal matriculation of students took place on Monday, October 7, at the Zabrze campus of the Silesian University of Technology.

The Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Marek Pawelczyk, was present at the inauguration. He emphasized that, "The joint inauguration of these two faculties reflects the good collaboration from the very beginning, which we wish for ourselves and the authorities of both faculties at the Zabrze campus of the Silesian University of Technology. I hope that this cooperation will translate into joint research and projects, as well as investments." The Rector also added that the Zabrze campus should expand in the near future with a Student Creativity Center, similar to those already established at the Gliwice and Katowice campuses.

At the Faculty of Organization and Management, 945 students have started their studies, with programs offered in both Polish and English. In total, the Faculty hosts about 2,500 students, both Polish and international.

In her inaugural speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Organization and Management, Prof. Aleksandra Kuzior, emphasized the importance of the scientific and educational work of the Faculty’s staff. She outlined future prospects, stressing that it is essential to continuously maintain high-quality education to ensure that students can successfully navigate the job market. She highlighted the Faculty’s potential, both in terms of personnel and infrastructure, and wished the students great success. The formal matriculation ceremony for first-year students was conducted by Prof. Katarzyna Dohn, Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Education.

The Chair of the Student Council at the Faculty of Organization and Management also wished the new students success and invited them to engage in Student Council activities.

The ceremonial inauguration in Zabrze was also attended by the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Marek Gzik, and the Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Investments at the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Zbigniew Paszenda.

Speeches were also delivered by representatives of the Association of Alumni of the Silesian University of Technology and local government officials from the city of Zabrze.
