


The Materials Research Laboratory (RMT L1) is located in the building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on the ground floor and occupies 21 rooms. Until September 2019, it was part of the present Department of Engineering and Biomedical Materials, and on 01/10/2019, by the Circular Letter No. 14/2019 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, it was separated and a separate organizational unit was created. The first head of the Laboratory was appointed DSc. Eng. Marcin Adamiak, prof. PŚ.
As part of co-financing by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Regional Operational Program of the Śląskie Voivodeship, in 2012, the project “Modernization and equipping of laboratories for testing and formating engineering materials of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice” was implemented. The main objective of the Project was to modernize the research and educating infrastructure and to equip the Laboratory with modern research equipment, thus strengthening the role of the Silesian University of Technology in active participation in creating a competitive economy and improving the quality and conditions of educating its graduates for better adaptation to the needs of the labor market and the competitive and competitive innovative enterprises.
