HISTORY of CITT

The Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer of the Silesian University of Technology is a university-wide organizational unit, established on the basis of Resolution No. III/22/08/09 of the Senate of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice of 24th November 2008.

In 2019, two university-wide units were transformed: the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer and the Academic Incubator of Entrepreneurship of the Silesian University of Technology into a university-wide unit called the "Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer", performs a function as a technology transfer centre and an academic business incubator within the meaning of Art. 148 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668, as amended). The changes were made on the basis of Resolution No. 52/2019 of the Senate of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice of 24th June 24 2019.

CITT has since performed the following roles:

  1. technology transfer centre within the meaning of Art. 148 sec. 4 of the Law on Higher Education and Science: A technology transfer centre is established for the purpose of direct commercialization, consisting in the sale of the results of scientific activity or know-how related to these results or putting these results or know-how into use, in particular on the basis of a license agreement , rental and lease;
  2. an academic business incubator within the meaning of Art. 148 sec. 2 of the Law on Higher Education and Science: The academic business incubator is established to support the business activity of university employees, doctoral students and students.

The Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer, as the unit responsible for the protection of intellectual property, supports, advises and improves the efficiency of all existing processes. The constant pursuit of the transfer and commercialization of results is a kind of system of creating intangible assets, based on the appreciation of the creative activity of the University's employees, protection of these rights and their skilful use.
Since 2008, CITT has played an important role in facilitating the implementation of scientific research results into economic practice, performs a number of market analyses, develops technology cards, supports project initiatives, carries out promotional activities, among others, by participating in numerous national and international events.
