Guest lecture of professor Mohamed Chehimi
To celebrate summer time, we had the opportunity to welcome to our University the distinguished chemist, Prof. Mohamed Mehdi Chehimi from Université Paris-Cîte, who delivered a lecture "Engineered Biochar: The New Black Gold for Sustainable Development."
Professor Mohamed Mehdi Chehimi is Scientific Director at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). His main research interests include surface chemistry and XPS surface analysis of reactive and functional materials. He is particularly interested in the development of thin films and polymer nanocomposites, as well as diazonium salts. He recently launched a new research project on the production of biochar-based materials and its applications in the treatment of tropical diseases. Prof. Chehimi has authored nearly 400 scientific articles, over 25 book chapters, and three patents, and has edited six books. His work has been cited over 19,000 times (H-index = 73). Chehimi is ranked in the top 2% of scientists in the world by Stanford University.
