New student project: Collagen carriers for the treatment of brain tumors
We are happy to announce that the project "Collagen carriers for a multifunctional combination of drugs in the treatment of brain tumors" has been qualified for funding in the competition "Student scientific circles create innovations", organized by the Ministry of Education and Science.
The project will be implemented in the Bioelectrochemistry Group operating at CONE.
The aim of the proposed project is to develop a controlled release system for a combination of anticancer, neuroprotective and anti-edematous drugs based on collagen. The biggest advantage of using collagen as a biomaterial is that it is fully biodegradable and bioresorbable, and its degradation products can be used in metabolic processes in the brain. Although collagen-based materials are used in biomedical engineering, collagen-based drug carriers for regional chemotherapy of brain tumors have not been commercialized to date.
