ENBIONET - Scientific Thematic Network "Environmental Biotechnology"

What is ENBIONET?

In agreement with the National Contact Point for the Framework Programme of the European Union on the creation of thematic Polish scientific networks, the Department of Environmental Biotechnology has undertaken the creation of the national Scientific Network in the thematic field of "Environmental Biotechnology". In the first stage, the Network has encompassed Polish scientific and research institutions. In the next stage it is intended to transform the Polish Network into a network of international character.

Why was ENBIONET created?

The ENBIONET Network was created in order to:

  • support Polish research institutions engaged in research on biotechnologies for environmental protection, through initiation, coordination and implementation of joint research and implementation projects, as well as staff training;
  • to create a forum for the exchange of information and dissemination of scientific and research results in the field of environmental biotechnology;
  • Support participation of research institutions in integrated projects and networks of excellence of the 6th Framework Program of the EU, by using their experience and consolidating scientific potential;
  • facilitate the inclusion of Network participants in projects implemented under the EU Pre-Accession Funds, Structural Funds and Cohesion Fund (Cohesion);
  • increase the level and importance of Polish R&D achievements in the field of Environmental Biotechnology in the European Research Area (ERA);
  • development of international cooperation in order to transform the National Network into a network of international character.

What are the subject areas of ENBIONET activity?

The activities of ENBIONET include:

  • water and wastewater biotechnology;
  • bioremediation of soil;
  • waste biotechnology
  • waste gas biotechnology
  • biomonitoring and ecotoxicology
  • hybrid (combined) processes;
  • unconventional biotechnological processes.

We kindly invite to membership in the ENBIONET Network "Environmental Biotechnology" all interested in the proposed topics. We also ask for comments on the proposed substantive areas and any other remarks related to the given idea. We intend to create a database of currently conducted national scientific-research works, which are part of the substantive areas covered by the scope of the Network.
