Research work summary:

Dr. Qumber Abbas from Pakistan, is an expert in Environmental geochemistry and Biotechnology. He earned Doctoral of Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China (a Top 100 University).

He is mainly engaged in developing strategies to clean up contaminated soil and water, aiming for sustainable environment. His key research interest involved the biological utilization of captured carbon through conversion into valued added chemical and fuels. As the biological pathway has a tremendous potential of carbon sequestration to mitigate the issue of global warming and climate change.

Before joining SUT, Dr. Abbas worked as Research Fellow at the Department of Environmental Engineering, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey and as an Assistant Professor on tenure track basis at the Institute of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, KFUEIT, Pakistan. He has hands-on experience to synthesis carbon rich material-biochar from waste biomass through pyrolysis route for the remediation of contaminated soil and water.

Main topic of his work during stay in Poland is: "Biological utilization pathway of carbon through conversion into value added biomaterials for sustainable environment”.
