KOWiK students visits the PURMO radiator factory
On April 16, 2019, members of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Science Club took part in a trip to the PURMO radiator factory in Rybnik.
The PURMO factory is part of the Rettig company, which is an international concern operating mainly in the heating industry.
During the trip, students had the opportunity to see the entire production process of a panel radiator - from the preparation of sheet metal and the production of the original radiator shapes to the process of packing and shipping radiators. Students also participated in the process of checking the tightness of radiators in specialized water tubs and testing their resistance to pressure and structural strength. While viewing the technological line of painting radiators, students learned about the technology of applying paints to radiators. At the end of the factory tour, the members of the Society viewed the production line for packing radiators and the radiator warehouse.
During the trip, students had the opportunity to view fully automated production lines with advanced machines for extruding radiator shapes and welding, as well as highly specialized robots for feeding and assembling radiator elements (i.e. screws, handles).
It was certainly an interesting and educational event for the participants of the trip.
