Silesian Science Award for Prof. Janusz Szewczenko
We are proud to announce that Professor Janusz Szewczenko received the Silesian Science Award 2025. This distinction is awarded to individuals who significantly enrich the world of Silesian science and art, promoting it both in Poland and abroad.
Our researcher and his team are working on intelligent polymer coatings that cover implants. These coatings serve two key functions. First, they act as a barrier, minimizing the release of metal ions into the body, which reduces the risk of allergies and postoperative inflammation. Second, they can release medication in a controlled manner directly at the implant site. It is a much more effective and less burdensome method of drug delivery for the body.
