Studenci o Uczelni

Katarzyna Młynarek-Żak

I come from the Opolskie Voivodeship, where the Silesian University of Technology enjoys a very good opinion. In the high school graduation class, I did not think long to participate in the open days of our University. The richly equipped laboratories and the atmosphere in the student community made a great impression on me. During my studies, academic teachers from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering infected me with a passion for material engineering that I studied. Studying at university has become a pleasure, not an unpleasant duty. Thanks to my commitment and help from lecturers, I participated in conferences and was a co-author of scientific articles. I completed my studies at the Silesian University of Technology receiving the Omnium Studiosorum Optimo medal for the best graduates with the Rector's award of the 1st degree. Currently, I am a PhD student at the Joint Doctoral School, thanks to which I can continue to develop my research interests. I am glad that I am part of the Silesian University of Technology - maybe you will join it as well?

I will remember my studies as one of the best times in my life. Throughout this time, I was active in the Student Council, which I highly recommend to everyone, due to the possibility of acquiring a wide range of soft skills, or as a perfect complement to the technical knowledge acquired during the classes. Undoubtedly, the greatest advantage of the activity in this organization was the opportunity to meet a wide group of fantastic people, both from the Silesian University of Technology, as well as from other universities in the country. I keep repeating that on the one hand, being in the local government is a lot of challenges and hard work, but on the other hand, it is primarily an opportunity to have fun with a group of friends and acquaintances. Besides, in my opinion, there is no worse way to waste study time than "just going to classes" without engaging in additional activities available at the University, such as research clubs, foreign exchanges or student organizations. Active use of study time enables an excellent start in a professional career, which I can confirm with my example, because finding a job in the profession right after graduation was not a problem. However, the possibilities do not end there. A good example is the implementation doctorate program, which I started this year, which allows, on the one hand, to gain professional experience, and on the other hand, to expand my knowledge and obtain another academic title. I recommend this program especially to those who appreciate the practical application of science, in this case through the implementation of a project aimed at implementing the title in a selected branch of the economy.

I chose the Silesian University of Technology, because of the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus + program and development abroad, but as soon as I started my studies, I was so quickly absorbed by the world of Student Organizations, Student Council and other voluntary activities that within 5 years I was unable to complete my Erasmus application. If I started to study again and chose other events and organizations to participate in, which I was thinking about now, and there was no time for them, it would probably have happened the same, because there are so many opportunities to participate in the Silesian University of Technology. Of course, I do not regret these decisions, because what I have learned outside the study program, I intend to use in my professional career, and I hope that the contacts I have made will stay with me for many years.

I chose to study at the Silesian University of Technology because it is a reputable university that gives the student the opportunity to acquire practical and theoretical knowledge. Many people around me studied at this University and recommended it to me. At the Silesian University of Technology there is a wide selection of fields of study, so everyone will find something for themselves, regardless of their interests or successes. The university is friendly to the student, in addition to acquiring knowledge, we have the opportunity to participate in research clubs, organizations or the student council. The University authorities are open to our ideas and initiatives, which means that we know that we have an impact on our education and its course. The student life centre is the campus and Łąka Igrowa, where you can spend time with friends and acquaintances. In addition, the Student Housing Estate is an important element for the student, dormitories are located in every city with faculties of the Silesian University of Technology.

I am a second-degree student of Public Safety and Crisis Management, and at the same time I work actively in the Student Council. Our Faculty and the entire University provide many opportunities to pursue your interests and passions through a wide selection of research clubs and student organizations. My activity in the local government and in the organization of Juwenalia allowed me to develop soft skills, and my studies, which I am about to finish, open up for me the possibility of working in various branches of the economy. If I were to choose the University again, I would definitely choose the same and I encourage everyone to try their hand at one of the ten Research Universities in Poland!

I am a second-year student of the macro-faculty - automatics control and robotics, communication and informatics and electronics at the Faculty of Automatics, Electronics and Computer Science and a laureate of the competition "For the Golden Index of the Silesian University of Technology" in physics and mathematics of the 1st degree. I think that the competition "For the Golden Index of the Silesian University of Technology" was a bull's eye! Knowing that I had a guaranteed place in my dream field of study, I did not stress when I passed my high school diploma. Besides, I really wanted to join the mentoring program, and participating in the competition ensured that for me. I encourage everyone to take part in the competition "For the Golden Index of the Silesian University of Technology". Thanks to the win, I was calmly choosing my field of study, knowing that I would definitely get it. Ultimately, I chose Makrokierunek, i.e. Automatics Control and Robotics, Communication and Informatics and Electronics. I believe it was one of the best choices in my life.

I am a second-year student of computer science at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and a laureate of the competition "For the Golden Index of the Silesian University of Technology" in physics of the first degree and mathematics of the second degree. Participation in the competition "For the golden index of the Silesian University of Technology" was a great opportunity for me to test my skills. It was also an additional motivation for me to deepen my knowledge. I sincerely recommend participating in this competition. I joined it in the 2nd grade of high school and already then secured a place at the university, becoming the 1st degree laureate of this competition in the field of physics. A year later I took part in the competition again and was again the laureate of the first degree in physics and, additionally, the second degree in mathematics. In the second grade, I was also among the finalists of the Physics Olympiad, which opened the door to many public universities in Poland. In the end, I decided to study computer science at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics of the Silesian University of Technology, and I am satisfied with my choice.

Since I was a child, I dreamed of being a teacher. To make this dream come true, I had to graduate in mathematics. I considered many universities in our country, but the Silesian University of Technology had the most positive opinions. However, I did not think that I would find myself so well here and meet so many wonderful people. In a word, if I were to choose the university where I would like to spend five years of my life, I would choose the Silesian University of Technology without thinking!

I came with the Erasmus+ Exchange programme to study at the Silesian University of Technology. For one semester I had courses at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science. And I’m proud to say that I completed everything successfully at one of the best technical universities in Poland. The following are the reasons why I love the SUT: The quality of the education is very good; The staff is friendly, helpful and very understanding; The campus is beautiful; For Erasmus students there are special Erasmus consultation hours. So if you have questions do not worry, just feel free to ask them during the consultation hours. My stay in Poland was educational and very pleasant. The SUT has a lot of international students and I was able to increase my network. I learned a lot about the Polish culture. Furthermore, I enjoyed the activities that were held for students. My time at the SUT can be seen as one the best things that I experienced.

I rate my studies at the Silesian University of Technology highly. The very good quality of education and contact with the lecturers allows you to master a wide range of both theoretical and practical knowledge. Most importantly, you can use your creativity not only during compulsory classes. In my case, it was an activity in the Student Science Club PolSl Racing, i.e. the Racing Team of the Silesian University of Technology. Project issues include not only engineering and technology, but also marketing and management. This interdisciplinarity allowed me to gain many valuable experiences and skills.

I come from Ukraine, a year and a half ago I came here for a student exchange from the Erasmus program at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science. During my studies, I gained valuable skills, worked in modern laboratories, improved my English language skills and learned to speak Polish fluently. After completing one semester as part of student exchange, I was offered to stay and continue my studies at the Silesian University of Technology. I was very happy! I encourage everyone to study at our university, it's worth it! I recommend my department if you are interested in programming, network administration, robotics or electronics-related specialties. In addition to studying, I spent beautiful moments here, I love traveling and I also used my time to explore. But most of all, at the Silesian University of Technology you can always find a lot of interesting extra activities.

Hello guys! Hope you all are doing well. My name is Andrii Semal and I’m doing Master Degree in Clean Fossil and Alternative Fuels of Energy. My journey in Gliwice started in February 2018 when the temperature outside was -15. But it didn’t hurt me too much as I’m from Ukraine and usually we have more or less the same temperature and weather like here.
