Visit of the Delegation from Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University to Our Faculty
On September 21–25, 2026, the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation at the Silesian University of Technology hosted a delegation from Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University (Kazakhstan). The main purpose of the visit was to enhance scientific and educational cooperation, as well as to exchange experiences in mining, geoengineering, occupational safety, and modern technologies utilized in the extractive industry.
The program featured meetings with Faculty authorities, presentations by research teams, and tours of laboratories and organizational units across the Silesian University of Technology. Guests learned about the activities of research groups within the Department of Geoengineering and Extraction of Natural Resources, visited the mine ventilation laboratory, and toured facilities of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Automation, the Department of Mining Mechanization and Robotics, the Department of Safety Engineering, and the Department of Applied Geology.
A key highlight was a faculty seminar where guests from Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University delivered presentations on gas-dynamic hazards and methane issues in the Karaganda Coal Basin, along with contemporary challenges regarding excavation stability in complex geological and mining conditions.
During their stay, the delegation also met with representatives of the International Relations Office, visited the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology, and explored the Silesian University of Technology's Museum of Ore Geology.
The visit provided a fruitful platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise between researchers from both universities, establishing future directions for collaborative research and education in advanced mining technologies, geoengineering, and operational safety in mineral resource extraction.
