On 25 June 2026, the second edition of the Future of Post-Mining Areas Conference will be held in Sosnowiec, at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia. The conference is organized by the State Mining Authority (WUG), the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PGI-NRI), and the University of Silesia. The conference serves as an interdisciplinary platform for networking and knowledge exchange among representatives of the mining industry, public administration, academia, and organizations specializing in environmental law, land reclamation, and post-mining land management. It addresses the challenges associated with mining activities in the context of increasing environmental, planning, and social requirements, with particular focus on environmental assessments, administrative procedures, land reclamation, and the sustainable redevelopment of post-mining areas.
