Surveyors at the Silesian University of Technology" and the AgriGeo Competition
On April 1, 2026, the Faculty hosted the event "Surveyors at the Silesian University of Technology", organized by the "Agrimensor" Student Scientific Society of Surveyors. During the event, Geodesy and Cartography students attended engaging lectures and participated in AgriGeo, a surveying knowledge competition. The event was also attended by students from surveying classes at Secondary School No. 5 in Ruda Śląska.
The event was opened by the Vice-Dean for Science and International Cooperation, dr hab. inż. Violetta Sokoła-Szewioła, prof. PŚ. Following the opening, presentations were given on the activities of the Student Scientific Society of Surveyors at the Silesian University of Technology and the Katowice Branch of the Association of Polish Surveyors (SGP).
Participants had the opportunity to hear from several distinguished guest speakers, including:

Mr. Mirosław Puzia – Provincial Inspector of Geodetic and Cartographic Supervision.

Mr. Sebastian Ptak – Director of the Geodesy and Cartography Department at the Gliwice City Hall.

Ms. Beata Płaczek & Ms. Jolanta Szostak-Wolak – Representatives of the Provincial Geodetic and Cartographic Documentation Center.

Ms. Kornelia Adamczyk & Mr. Piotr Żyłowski – Representatives from CubicOrb.

Mr. Eugeniusz Kaczmarczyk – Owner of Geomatix.
In the geodetic knowledge competition, students competed in game-show formats inspired by "Jeopardy!" (Vabanque) and "The Money Drop" (Postaw na milion). The rivalry was intense, and the finalist teams were awarded valuable prizes.
