Students' participation in the PBL project
We would like to congratulate a group of students: Szymon Smołka, Angelika Banaś, Kaja Fołta and Kinga Balcerzak, on completing the PBL project: Bacteriostatic and electroactive coatings facilitating cell adhesion for biomedical applications. The aim of the project was the fabrication of an electroactive material that could serve as a protective coating for implants and biomedical devices, characterized by bactericidal properties and biocompatibility. In this way, it would be possible to avoid the risk of post-implantation infections, which lead to serious health problems and may require removal of the implant.
The project was interdisciplinary in nature, as it was carried out in two research units: the Department of Physical Chemistry and Technology of Polymers (RCh4) and the Biotechnology Center (RJO11-CB). As a result, a comprehensive approach to the research carried out was possible, covering all stages of the project: from the synthesis of the material, its functionalization, examination of microbiological properties and biocompatibility, culminating in the assessment of the implementation potential of the technology being developed.
If you are interested, we invite you to read the detailed results of the project: the poster presenting the results of the research was placed on the 2nd floor of the Department of Physical Chemistry and Technology of Polymers (ul. M. Strzody 9).
