In May 2026, our Department's PhD student, Magdalena Marny, MSc, Eng., had the opportunity to represent our department at the 10th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference, which took place in Dresden from May 18th to 20th.

The conference was organized by Elsevier and has for years attracted scientists working in the field of green and sustainable chemistry. This time, participants met in Dresden, a city that attracts people from all over the world in May. Not only because of the numerous scientific conferences held there, but also because of cultural events such as the Spring Fair in the Old Market Square and the International Dixieland Festival, considered the oldest traditional jazz festival in Europe. Therefore, attending the conference was an opportunity not only to listen to inspiring scientific presentations but also to experience the unique atmosphere of the city.

During the conference, Magdalena Marny, MSc, Eng., presented the results of her research in a presentation titled "The Future of Chemistry: A New Way to Learn." "Effective and environmentally safe ZnO-based photocatalysis: Ecotoxicity assessment of immobilized TiO₂-ZnO composites for sustainable municipal wastewater treatment under simulated sunlight." The presented work assessed the ecotoxicity of immobilized TiO₂-ZnO composites used in photocatalytic degradation of pollutants in municipal wastewater, with particular emphasis on their effectiveness and environmental safety.
