Forensic Laboratories for Students of TEB Edukacja Gliwice
On March 24, 2026, laboratory classes were held for students of a high‑school class with a forensic science profile from TEB Edukacja Gliwice, organised by doctoral candidates of the Electrochemistry Group:
mgr inż. Agata Kołkowska, mgr inż. Aleksander Olesiński, and mgr inż. Hubert Knap.
During the classes, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the practical application of the electrolytic copper deposition process, which was used to reveal fingerprints on steel objects. The exercises provided an excellent opportunity to learn the fundamentals of electrochemistry while simultaneously enabling students to expand their portfolio of methods applied in modern forensic science.
The classes had a hands‑on, workshop‑based format and were conducted using an experiential learning approach, allowing students to carry out successive stages of the experiment independently under laboratory conditions, with careful and substantive supervision by the doctoral candidates of the Electrochemistry Group.
The event was carried out as part of the “Patron Class” programme, supervised by
dr inż. Agnieszka Siewniak (Department of Organic Technology and Petrochemistry) and dr inż. Maciej Sowa from our Department.
The classes were not only a valuable educational experience, but also an inspiring encounter with science, demonstrating how interdisciplinary tools of chemistry and electrochemistry find practical applications in forensic investigations.
