On March 6, 2026, a scientific seminar was held at the Centre for Student Activity of the Silesian University of Technology as part of the implementation of the project entitled
“Evaluation of the Possibility of Improving the Surface Properties of Copper Alloys with Zinc and Nickel Additions via Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation.”

The seminar constituted an element of preparation for a larger scientific event addressed to students and doctoral candidates, while also providing an opportunity to present the first outcomes of the research work carried out by students involved in the project.

During the meeting, Maciej Gdala and Łukasz Gardas delivered a short presentation entitled
“One Who Does Not Do PEO on Copper Stays at Home,”
in which they discussed the assumptions of the project, the scientific rationale behind the application of plasma electrolytic oxidation technology to copper alloys, and the initial concepts of the planned experimental research.

The project is implemented under the programme “Support for Students in Enhancing Their Competences and Skills” and is financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The total value of the project and the awarded funding amounts to PLN 48,464.12.

The project is financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under Action 01.05 “Skills in Higher Education” of the European Funds for Social Development Programme (FERS) 2021–2027 (offer number: N190).

The organisation of the seminar represents an important element in the development of students’ presentation and scientific competences, as well as a significant step in preparing them to participate in broader initiatives promoting research conducted in the field of electrochemistry and surface engineering.
