Muzeum Hutnictwa w Chorzowie 4000x2250

www.muzeumhutnictwa.pl

The Museum of Metallurgy in Chorzów is the first museum in Poland presenting the history of iron and steel metallurgy during the revolution. Using the examples of  Huta Kościuszko/Królewska and Batory/Bismarck steel mills, the over 220-year history of the metallurgical industry in today's Chorzów is told.
The idea of the Museum, operating from the end of 2021, grows out of concern for memory and a deep belief in its life-giving importance. In the heart of the former Huta Królewska steel mill, an inspiring space was created in which the past, present and future are to create a harmonious whole. This is where the story about the city, industry and the people who have been creating it for centuries becomes a starting point for reflection on the constantly changing world.
The permanent exhibition "Kingdom of Iron" was created in the former building of the metallurgical power plant built in 1895. It covers approx. 750 m2. It presents nearly 250 exhibits and 7 large-scale metallurgical machines, some of which are operated occasionally. In 2022, this exhibition was recognized in the prestigious "Sybilla" competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as one of the three best that were created in our country in 2021. The exhibition is accompanied by a screening in a cinema hall with a large, curved screen. The presented film about the history of metallurgy is enriched with special effects.
Through popularizing, educational and social activities, the Museum of Metallurgy in Chorzów is a place where the story about metallurgy remains alive and interesting for a wide group of recipients. It is a place where, thanks to sensitivity to the industrial past and remembering its highlights and shadows, subsequent generations can create their future heritage.
