T1D Exome 2025
On May 7–9, 2025, the international meeting “T1D Exome Conference” was held in Zakopane. The conference brought together clinical physicians, endocrinologists, diabetologists, as well as geneticists and AI engineers. The aim of the meeting was to summarize the latest research on the genetic background of autoimmune diseases, with particular focus on type 1 diabetes.
During a series of lectures, participants were presented with the current state of knowledge in this field and the results of a project conducted at the Silesian University of Technology in collaboration with Oakland University (USA) and Uzhhorod National University (Ukraine). The project is funded by the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.
In her talk, Prof. Joanna Polańska highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence tools in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of type 1 diabetes. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about preliminary results from WES data analyses in a group of nearly 7,000 individuals, conducted by our PhD student, Karolina Kuliś, under the supervision of Prof. Polańska and Dr. Oleksyk.
