Successful defense of doctoral thesis!

On February 10, 2026, Marek Socha defended his doctoral thesis entitled “Computer-Assisted Detection and Quantification of Low-Attenuation Lung Patterns in CT Studies of COPD Patients”.

This work concerns the use of artificial intelligence methods to analyze CT images of the lungs for the automatic detection and quantitative assessment of areas damaged by COPD. The developed approach can support physicians in faster and more objective assessment of the degree of lung damage and in monitoring the progression of the disease.

The research was conducted in collaboration with the Medical University of Gdansk, which allowed for the combination of data analysis and artificial intelligence methods with clinical knowledge in the field of diagnostic imaging.
