Our team at BIOSTEC 2026!

Our Student Laura Jarosz and Ph.D. student Julia Merta attended the BIOSTEC 2025 conference in Marbella, Spain.

The following presentations were given:

  1. “Kit-specific and other non-biological-based biases in germline whole-exome analysis at the gene level”, authors: L. Jarosz, J. Dai, M. Ochocki, J. Merta, L. Pusztai, and M. Marczyk.
The presentation focused on the analysis of kit-specific effects in whole-exome sequencing data. The presented results are part of the CanAge project, funded under the SONATA BIS 13 grant titled “Advanced statistical and deep learning models for predicting cancer risk and supporting therapeutic decisions.”
  2. “Histokit: Fast and accurate tissue and artifact detection and data processing for whole slide histopathological imaging”, authors: J. Merta and M. Marczyk.
The presentation focused on a new tool for processing histopathological images of whole microscope slides. The work is being carried out in collaboration with the team of Dr. Miłosz Pietrus, MD, and Dr. Iwona Gawron, MD, from the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.

We are delighted that our young researchers are actively participating in international conferences and presenting the progress of their work. We wish you every success!
