ERRS 2025 Conference

The results of the MIRAMARE project, carried out by our Department in collaboration with Stockholm University and other research institutes, were presented in poster form at the 49th Annual Meeting of the European Radiation Research Society in Brussels, held on 2–4 September 2025.

The poster was entitled “Mechanisms of radiation-induced breast cancer induction: the role of sex hormones and obesity” and was authored by Samuel Westerman, Zuzana Kocibalova, Prabodha Kumar Meher, Stanislav Polozov, Isabelle Testard, Joanna Polańska, Christophe Badie, Umberto Galderisi, Serge Candéias, and Andrzej Wójcik.

Preliminary findings indicate that sex hormones and leptin – both individually and in combination – play an important role in the body’s response to radiation at multiple levels.

A special distinction for our Department was the invitation of Professor Joanna Polańska as a guest speaker at this event.

We are very proud and excited about these results! (link)
