Detection of DNA and RNA modifications in nanopore sequencing data

On Wednesday, 22 October, during our Department's seminar, Joanna Tobiasz, PhD gave a presentation on methods for detecting DNA methylation in nanopore sequencing data.

This project is being carried out as part of a grant to support the launch of scientific activity in a new research area – the Initiative of Excellence – Research University programme.

Nanopore sequencing is one of the most innovative technologies in molecular biology, enabling direct detection of DNA and RNA modifications. Dr Tobiasz's research is being applied in projects concerning type I diabetes and muscular dystrophy, among others, opening up new perspectives in the analysis of epigenetic mechanisms of diseases.
