Four contributions from our team presented at ERRS 2026 in Oslo
The 50th Meeting of the European Radiation Research Society (ERRS 2026) was held in Oslo on 6–9 September 2026. Four contributions involving members of our team were presented during the conference: two oral presentations and two posters.
The posters showcased the first results of the MIRAMARE project, conducted with the involvement of Joanna Tobiasz. The studies investigated the effects of leptin and female sex hormones on the radiosensitivity of normal breast and endometrial cells, as well as the influence of obesity and hormones on the immune microenvironment in radiation-associated female cancers.
Joanna Polańska delivered an oral presentation entitled “Optimizing feature selection in direct long-read RNA sequencing for radiation exposure classification using interpretable NLP-based machine learning.” The presentation summarised research carried out within the IDEA project and Tomasz Strzoda’s doctoral work.
The fourth contribution resulted from an independent collaboration with the University of Caen Normandie and involved Joanna Żyła. Kave Moloudi presented the study “Proton Irradiation Preserves Metabolic Homeostasis and Protects Normal Stem Cell Niches Compared with X-ray or Carbon-ion Radiation.” His presentation received an award.
Participation in ERRS 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to present our findings to the international radiation research community, exchange knowledge, and strengthen scientific collaborations.
