New project in our Department

We are pleased to announce that the project of Michał Marczyk, BEng, PhD, DSc entitled "Advanced statistical and deep learning models to predict cancer risk and support treatment decisions" has been qualified for funding under the SONATA BIS 13 program of the National Science Center. Congratulations and we wish you fruitful work!

As part of the project, the following tools will be developed: CanAge and CanSurv. CanAge will use a healthy person's genetic data to predict when they may develop a specific type of cancer, offering personalized insight into the contribution of the germline genome to cancer risk. The model could also serve as the basis for future integrated tools that take into account both genomic and environmental factors, helping to identify people at increased risk of developing cancer. CanSurv will enable the estimation of survival in individual breast cancer patients and the assessment of additional benefits of various adjuvant therapies for which clinical trial data are available. Thanks to this, patients and doctors will be able to jointly agree on further treatment steps with full awareness of the risks and benefits of the selected therapy.
