Summary of the Silesian Days of Biotechnology "Bakcyl" 2023
The next Silesian Biotechnology Days 'Bakcyl', organised by the Biotechnology Students Association, took place on 31 May and 1 June. During the first day of this event, representatives of our Department had the pleasure of conducting popular science classes for secondary school students. Dr Joanna Żyła gave a lecture entitled "Life written in numbers - or when computer scientist and biologist meet, know that something is going on", and Dr Justyna Mika and Joanna Tobiasz, M.Sc. conducted a bioinformatics workshop entitled "Discover what happens in your genetic material when you smoke cigarettes". Thank you very much for the invitation!
During the second day, there was a volleyball match between the lecturers and the students. Our Department was represented by Dr Michał Marczyk, Aleksandra Suwalska, M.Sc. and Joanna Tobiasz, M.Sc. We are pleased to report that the match ended with the score 3:0 in favour of the lecturers. Thank you for playing together and we look forward to a rematch next year!
