Researchers from our Faculty in the prestigious group of 2% most influential scientists
Researchers from the Silesian University of Technology have once again been ranked among the most influential 2% of scientists in the world in terms of the citation rates of their publications. This is the fourth edition of the ranking initiated in 2019 based on an article in the journal PLOS Biology by authors from Stanford University, Elsevier, and SciTech Strategies, presenting a publicly available database providing standardised information considering publication achievements.
The list contains the names of 2% of researchers ranked based on indicators for the evaluation of scientific output, such as Hirsch index, number of citations, Impact Factor and role and place in the list of authors. The ranking included more than 195,000 scientists from 22 disciplines divided into 176 sub-disciplines. Among them there are researchers from the Silesian University of Technology, including a member of the University Council, Professor Marian Turek and two Vice Rectors, Professor Janusz Kotowicz and Professor Marek Pawełczyk.
The ranking is structured into two main lists. The first (Table-1-Authors_career) includes researchers ranked in the top 2% in the world based on achievements throughout the whole period of scientist's career. The second table (Table-1-Authors_singleyr_2021) includes academics ranked in the top 2% in the world based on achievements in a single year 2021.
